Introduction:
This is a targeted release to address a small number of customers seeing a Kernel Panic when taking a snapshot using the hcp command. Skyrocketing loads, duplicating snapshots, and out-of-memory issues cause the kernel to panic. These customers are experiencing deadlock and hung task timeouts. This issue is reported in specific Linux installations and does not impact customer with Windows OS's.
Issues Targeted in this Buddy Drop:
- CDP 3.x agent and HCP ext3_fill_super crash
- 2.6.18 Ext4 cdp-2-6 hung task and kernel stack trace
- 2.6.18 and 2.6.32 Kernel locks when copying files to snapshot
- Kernel Panic in _mutex_lock_slowpath
Installation/Upgrade notes:
- Obtaining Kernel Module - "custom version" module labeled ver. 13005 can be obtained via command: "r1soft-setup --get-module --custom-version 4.1.1-13005"
Install/Upgrade Recommendations: - We recommended using the latest version of the agent with the custom-version modules. Please Note: We do NOT recommend using beta modules with older agent versions.

Use of this buddy drop is supported in the tested configurations below. Installing in any other configuration could result in a system failure.

Known Limitations:
Kernel versions 2.6.32 through 2.6.36 require a special module due to a kernel issue with ext4 file systems. Only ext4 file systems are affected.
What To Do If You Find An Issue in This Buddy Drop
- Logon to the support portal http://support.r1soft.com
- Create a new issue. Enter CDP 3 for the version.
