The Backup Agent is used to protect any number or combination of database instances (including MySQL, SQL Server, and MS Exchange). See also: System Requirements - Backup Agent for Linux, System Requirements - Backup Agent for Windows.



Below you can find a list of database products that can be protected by Server Backup Manager.

Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft. The following SQL Server versions can be protected:

  • SQL Server 2014
  • SQL Server 2012
  • SQL Server 2008 R2
  • SQL Server 2008
  • SQL Server 2005
  • SQL Server Express

MySQL

MySQL is the world's most used open source relational database management system. It runs as a server, providing multi-user access to a number of databases. Requirements for protecting MySQL databases are provided below.

File Systems In order for the Server Backup Manager to protect your MySQL database, locate it on one of the following supported file systems.
Note
For proper snapshot and synchronization, all database tables and associated InnoDB log files are located on the same file system. Locating InnoDB data and log files on separate file systems or devices is not currently supported by the Server Backup.
  • Windows: NTFS
  • Linux: Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, XFS, ReiserFS

Storage Engines we do not support:

  • Mroonga
  • SphinxSE
  • PBXT

Microsoft MS Exchange

Microsoft Exchange Server is the server side of a collaborative application product developed by Microsoft. The following versions are supported:

  • Exchange Server 2013
  • Exchange Server 2010
  • Exchange Server 2007

Not supported:

  • Exchange Server 2003

Unsupported configurations:

  • MSDE (SQL Server 2000 version of SQL Express) or anything prior to 2005
  • Object (e.g. table) level restore
  • Support for Active/Active SQL Server Clusters
  • Log Shipping
  • Backup of a selection of individual databases (the feature will be added in the future)
  • MS Exchange 2003
