Enabling MySQL Add-On

Question:

I just ordered the MySQL Agent add-on.

1. Do I have to "reseed" the Agent all over again?

2. Where can I find an option to enable the MySQL Agent add-on?

Solution:

1. You do not need to "reseed" the Agent. Read more in MySQL Addon - Why MySQL Backups are Not Safe Without It.

2. Once you have purchased MySQL Agent add-on license, follow the steps described below to enable the add-on.

Step 1: Activating license

In your CDP Server, do the following:

1. Click on the "Options" button on the main menu.

2. Click on the "About" button on the options menu.

3. Click on the "Activate License" button.

This will allow your backup server to know that you now have new Agent add-ons.

Step 2: Enabling MySQL option for Host

In your CDP Server, do the following:

1. Click on the "Hosts" tab located on the main menu to access the hosts list.

2. Click on any Host name to access its properties window.

3. Click on the "Change" button to be able to edit the host properties.

4. Select the "Enable CDP For MySQL Module" check box.

5. Click on the "OK" button to save your changes.

Step 3: Configuring MySQL server instance to be backed up

In your CDP Server, do the following:

1. Click on the "Hosts" tab located on the main menu to access the hosts list.

2. Click on any Host name to access its properties window.

3.  Click on the "MySQL" button located on the "Host" menu.

 4. When the page loads, you can configure a new MySQL server instance to be backed up. The details you enter are how the server you are backing up will access MySQL, so use 'localhost' if it is on that server.
