Renaming Mount Points

Question

Is it possible to rename a mount point after starting to use that partition for CDP storage?

Solution

Yes, it is possible. If you rename a mount point, it will still be backed up as the same device.

Note: In Unix-like systems, a mount point is the location in the operating system's directory structure where a mounted file system appears. For example, many modern Linux distributions automatically mount the CD drive as /media/cdrom, so the contents of the CD drive will appear in the /media/cdrom directory. The equivalent to mounting in Microsoft Windows is known as mapping a drive.

The following screen-shot shows how the /mp3 is renamed to /music.

You can see the old mount point is still shown in the CDP Server interface.

You do not need to run Device Discovery. After the Backup task is finished, you can see that the new name of mount point has appeared automatically on the "Devices" screen and in the Disk Safe Browser.
