CDP 3.0 reduces data through encoding information using fewer information-bearing units than an un-encoded representation would use. CDP works with Zlib encoding schemes (also known as Gzip) and QuickLZ.
Compression is a process of encoding information using a smaller size than an un-encoded representation would use through the use of zZlib and QuickLZ encoding schemes. This helps reduce the consumption of expensive resources, such as hard disk space or transmission bandwidth. Compression is performed at the Hard Disk sector level (block level) on the Host during a Backup by the CDP Agent.
