How Do I Enable Control Panel Logins?

Symptom

Control panel users can not login into the CDP Server to restore files.

Cause

Control panel integration has not been enabled on the CDP Server or Agent. First, to use the control panel features you must have a license that includes the Control Panel add-on module on your Backup Server. You must also configure the Linux Agent to integrate with your control panel, or choose "Yes" to have the Linux Agent installer do it for you on a supported control panel.

Resolution

You will also need to either install the agent on the control panel hostusing the option to "integrate with Control Panel", or make sure the /etc/buagent/agent_config file found on the agent has the UserAuthEnabled option set to yes (the buagent must be restarted for this change to take effect):

# whether control panel user authentication is enabled (default: no) UserAuthEnabled yes

To test control panel logons, go to the Backup Server logon screen. Change the drop down from standard login to control panel login and enter the host name, user-id and password of the control panel user. Note: you can pre-select the control panel logon type by going to the URL /cp/ on your Backup Server.

If after attempting to logon as a control panel user you get an error like:

myhost.corp.com is not configured to allow control panel logins

Then you have simply not enabled the Control Panel module for that host on the Backup Server. You will also have to make sure the control panel module is enabled for the volumethe host is assigned to. To enable the control panel module for the host, first select the host in the Backup Server web GUI. Then click the change button on the Host Settings screen. Then make sure the "Enable Control Panel Module" checkbox is checked and then click the OK button.
