Symptom

When performing an MS SQL Server restore, it is not possible to specify alternate database names and paths when all databases are selected for restoration.

After selecting the "Browse Databases" option from a Recovery Point, and then checking the "Databases" box, the "Alternate DB Names" option is not available.

Resolution

You cannot use the "Select All" option to restore an MS SQL Server to an alternate database (do not check the "Databases" box). Instead, select the required databases by clicking the check-box next to each database you want to restore, one-by-one.

Even if you individually select all databases in the list, you will still be able to do an alternate restore, and the "Alternate DB Names" option will be available on the "Restore Databases" screen.
